The future of Robert Lewandowski is at the center of the debate around FC Barcelona. The Polish striker, one of the team’s main attacking leaders, already has a contract renewal proposal on the table from the culer club. However, the agreement won’t be automatic: the offer includes a significant pay cut that has opened up a scenario full of doubts.
A renewal conditioned by salary
Currently, Lewandowski earns €26 million gross per season, a high figure that Barça considers necessary to adjust within its financial control policy. President Joan Laporta is clear about it: he wants the striker to continue, but within a wage structure that is more in line with his current performance.

The proposal is specific: extend the contract for one more season, but with a much lower salary. At Barça they value his leadership, experience, and goal-scoring ability, but they are also aware of the need to balance the books and back a more sustainable model in the medium term.
Lewandowski hesitates despite his culer priority
Despite this context, the striker’s priority remains clear: to continue in Barcelona. Lewandowski feels comfortable in the city, adapted to the locker room, and committed to the sporting project. His initial intention is to keep wearing the culer jersey.

However, doubts are beginning to arise. The Pole is aware that, at 37 years old, he is facing one of his last major contracts. The offers he has on the table are, financially, far higher than Barça’s.
Strong proposals from Europe and abroad
Several European clubs have shown interest in taking advantage of the situation. Both AC Milan and Juventus are offering him a leading role, a higher salary, and the possibility of continuing to compete at the highest level in Italy.
But it is not only Europe that is knocking on his door. From Saudi Arabia, different clubs have presented a mega-offer that is practically unmatched in financial terms. Meanwhile, in the United States, Chicago Fire want to turn him into the face of its project in MLS.
