FC Barcelona keeps shaping its roadmap for the next summer transfer window, and in the last few hours an important decision made directly by Deco has become known. One of the names that was on the table has been definitively ruled out: Xavi Simons.
The Dutchman, who was developed at La Masia and is currently at Tottenham, won’t return to Camp Nou. It is final.
The response to the offer from Xavi Simons
The possibility of a return always generates expectation, especially when it involves a homegrown talent. In this case, it was Xavi Simons himself who has offered to come back to Barça.
At 22 years old, he is looking for a new destination where he can take a definitive leap in his career. However, the response from the Barça offices has been clear: he isn’t in the plans.

The operation is unfeasible
One of the main obstacles is the price. As Alfredo Martínez has explained, signing Xavi Simons would require an investment close to 45 million euros.
An amount that, in the current economic context of FC Barcelona, is considered too high. The club is prioritizing other moves and isn’t willing to make an outlay of that magnitude for a player in his position.
Message to La Masia
But it’s not all a question of money. At Barça there is also a strategic and identity component.
